3 Not-so Obvious Ways to Improve Your Diet

Everyone knows, as much as fad's try to tell you otherwise, that dieting is hard. Sticking to stirct guidelines, counting calories, trying the newest superfoods, all are effective (some superfoods are a bit dodgy though) but are hard to maintain with a busy lifestyle so here are 3 ways to make small changes to your diet to improve how healthy you are eating.

 


  1. Try to stick to more lean meats in your diets. It's not something we tend to think about on a meal to meal basis, but the difference between lean and fatty meats in your diet can be substantial. While seemingly obvious, its a distinction that a lot of people don't seem to get. There is a lot of saturated fats in red meat, whereas white meat tends to be much leaner and protein filled.

  2. Drink more water. It's been statistically proven that drinking more water in the day increases your metabolic rate. It sounds like something everyone should know, it's even advertised by the government in Singapore as part of a campaign to get more people drinking more water.

  3. Cut the general amount of carbs in your diet. This is another seemingly obvious but over looked facet of any healthy eating regime. The amount of carbs people eat is ridiculous nowadays, its in every typical meal, especially the amount of fries people tend to eat with each meal. Carbs are such a high energy source that overloading on them is only good if you can burn it off quick enough.
